NET ZERO
The United Nations net zero
Net Zero
The United Nations net zero means cutting greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible, with any remaining emissions re-absorbed from the atmosphere by oceans and forests, for instance.
Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has defined Net Zero targets for corporates as follows:
To reach a state of net zero emissions for companies implies two conditions:
Condition One
1. To achieve a scale of value-chain emission reductions consistent with the depth of abatement achieved in pathways that limit warming to 1.5°C with no or limited overshoot.
Condition Two
2. To neutralise the impact of any source of residual emissions that remains unfeasible to be eliminated by permanently removing an equivalent amount of atmospheric carbon dioxide.
Avoided emissions offsets are being carried out in the UK at the moment, with the move to replace the equipment that causes the carbon emissions, such as gas fired equipment.
Leading this cause, as one of our solutions, is to use the heat that is in all our wastewater. The realisation that we have heated water in our homes and places of work and then it all goes down the drain and not recycled or reused is unbelievable!
Our solutions in harnessing the heat in this water and using it to heat buildings or by reversing the process meaning, we are able to provide cooling as well and therefore helping businesses displace gas use and move to a more sustainable operation.
